Welcome to Hawera High School

Hawera High School is a co-educational school of approximately 800 students located in South Taranaki. This is a flourishing area with a focus on dairy farming.

Hawera High School is well resourced with a range of courses for both the academically able and those who require earlier vocational direction. A significant number of students go on to tertiary study with pass rates well above the national average. Many students continue their education at Polytechnics and Private Training Establishments. Technology & Information Communication Technology (ICT) are a real strength of Hawera High School. The school also stresses the importance of co-curricular involvement and offers a wide range of sports and cultural activities.

Staff are highly qualified with an effective mix of long-standing and younger members. There is a very collegial and supportive tone in the school. Hawera High School aims for each student to achieve a “personal best” while becoming a mature, positive and contributing member of society.
