Physical Education is the part of education which
promotes learning in, through and about movement. The purpose of
Physical Education is to develop physical skills and enhance the
health, growth, and total well being of all students. Physical Education
provides a practical environment for the implementation and application
of many of the socio-ecological aspects taught through the Health
Education Curriculum. It also allows opportunities for students
to learn the important attitudes and values of the school community
and society in general, that are fundamental to the development
of hauora, or total well being. Physical Education is complementary
to other subjects as it provides learning opportunities in the movement
field. It gives the opportunity for deeper social and emotional
extension of the individual through these physical activities in
groups and teams. Therefore, the role of Physical Education is to
ensure the development of the whole individual - physical, mental,
social and emotional.

Food & Nutrition highlights food types and nutrients,
and applies this knowledge to plan meals meeting the National Nutrition

principles, food preparation techniques and processes, safe food
handling and personal hygiene. Students have the opportunity to
gain knowledge in safe food handling, methods of food preservation,
safe use and care of multi function appliances in meal preparation
and to develop and implement a one-off solution in food technology.
