Camberwell Road, Hawera, Taranaki
Hawera
High School is located in the town of Hawera, South Taranaki. Hawera
is an hours drive south of New Plymouth and an hours drive north
of Wanganui. It has a resident population of about 9,000 people.
Mt Taranaki forms the spectacular backdrop to the region, while
the dramatic coastline is just a few kilometres from the town. The
mountain, beaches and hinterland offer a lot of scope for people
with outdoor interests. Sporting clubs thrive and there is a cultural
tradition in the district, which fosters a thriving Repertory Society,
brass band, orchestral society and various choral groups.
It
is a flourishing area with a focus on dairy farming with a very
large dairy factory, part of the Fonterra Group. The town has an
excellent business centre, and progressive town Council. Hawera
High School has very good relations with the community, and the
evening Community classes run by the school, are very popular.
