High School, a regular award achiever in this annual regional event,
offers this cultural activity to students at all levels.
Participants can be involved in dance, choreography,
concept design, and backstage crew or as technicians. Students
take various leadership roles in all aspects of the production.
The school's entry in this nationally run competition is a meeting
ground for a huge variety of students and talent. More than one
hundred students participate in various ways including choreography,
make-up, costumes, performance, stage design and crew, lighting etc
etc. Much planning and practice occur before the event.

The group of senior students plan and run a small business
for the year. Hawera High School Yes teams take part in the Taranaki
Competition and during the year learn skills such as team work,
financial management, marketing, communication and time management.
The group has a mentor from the local business community to advise
them and a teacher to oversee their activities.
Our 2007 Yes team, called "Cool-It", were Taranaki winners and
then went on to win the National prize. Team members
Scott Roberts,
Jonathan Myers and Liam Ranford received their award from the
Governor-General.
We are not running the YES scheme this year.
