Although Hawera High School doesn't have a swimming team there are a number of students who train for Swimming Squads in Hawera and Stratford who attend our school. Their success is highlighted at Swimming Sports held in February where some long standing records have been broken in recent years. Students also get the opportunity to compete at the TSSSA Swimming Sports which is comprised of individual events and relays. Hawera High School has been well represented at this event with a number of top 3 places in 2015 in both individual and relay events.

In 2014 and 2015 Hawera High has been able to send students to both the North Island Secondary Schools Swimming Championships and the New Zealand Secondary Schools Championships. These events have strict qualifying times for students to achieve in order to be eligible to enter. Again our students have gained top 3 placings in these. One of our students has also gained a qualification as an Inspector of Turns which means they are capable of referring swimming at a local, central and national level.
